When thinking about North America we tend to think about The United States with its overpopulated cities and skyscrapers. Little do we know that North America is home to gorgeous forests, huge deserts and stunning oases. Not to mention amazing roads that make North America the perfect destination for road trips.

You could easily spend a year doing a road trip around North America and not even see half of it. That’s what’s so great about this part of the world, you can always come back and explore further.

What is the best road trip in North America

It will vary based on your personal preferences and your interest in terms of culture, architecture, food and activities. I thoroughly enjoyed my road trip in North California, particularly driving the Pacific Coast Highway offering stunning landscape and beautiful sunsets. Because you’re driving by the coast the entire time this road tip offers hours and hours of beauty and great twisty roads.

Stretching 3,365 miles long, US Route 20 is the longest road in the US. It connects Boston, Massachusetts and Newport.

What is the best way to travel North America

To cover the most ground possible and be able to see as much beauty that North America has to offer, it is recommended to travel by car or van. My preference would be to rent a campervan and camp along the way.

Things to know when driving in North America

  • Speed limits are low

  • Fuel is cheap and petrol stations can be found everywhere

  • Roads are huge
